The Café

Take a break; take in history

Whether it's a big appetite or just a small craving calling, you can sit down at a table in the café. We've put together a menu that we're pretty confident appeals to almost every taste, whether that's salads and sandwiches, coffee and cake or perhaps one of Gorm's hearty rolls.

The Café

Café seasons

High season - from Easter to New Year's

The café opens at 11am and closes an hour before the museum. We offer the full menu, so you can find a little something for everyone.

Winter season - from New Year to Easter

The café is only open during school holidays and for pre-booked events. During school holidays we serve light lunches. However, it is always possible to buy coffee, tea, chocolate, soda, water and snacks.

The covered picnic house

Bringing your own food?

Here you can enjoy your own food in Kongernes Jelling. It is a house built in the style of those that may have existed in the past.
If you have food and drinks with you, you're welcome to enjoy them in our covered picnic house. It's a popular spot, so we hope you'll continue exploring Kongernes Jelling when you're finished – so others can enjoy the house too. You can also find a bench in the monument area and enjoy your lunch with a royal view. If you've booked a tour or talk, we're happy to reserve space for you in advance.
