Closed on all other days.
Remember that the outdoor monument area is always open.
Transportation and parking
Public entrance
If you are arriving by car, head for Kollegievej 22, and if you are arriving by bus, the address is Herningvej 3A.
If you are cycling or walking, head for Gormsgade 23, 7300 Jelling, but note that the main entrance faces Vestergade.
Parking
A new large parking lot with charging stations and a special section for motorhomes is located at Kollegievej 22, and bus parking is available at Herningvej 3A.
Bicycles
Kongernes Jelling is located on both the Hærvejsruten (national cycle route 3) and Middelalderruten (regional cycle route 35), and we offer free bike pumps and repair kits.
Public transport
You can get to Kongernes Jelling by train and bus.
From the station in Jelling, you can see the monuments, and the walk to Kongernes Jelling takes 4 minutes.
From Jelling Station, there are hourly trains to/from Vejle (with connections to Aarhus, Aalborg, Billund, Fredericia, Odense, Copenhagen, Kolding, Sønderborg, Esbjerg) and Herning/Struer (with connections to Skjern, Silkeborg, Holstebro, and Thisted). Four times a day, there is a direct express train connection to/from Odense/Copenhagen.
On weekdays, there is also an hourly bus connection to Vejle on route 211.

Service dogs are welcome at Kongernes Jelling.
Can I use a companion card?
Yes. A companion receives free admission upon presentation of a companion card. The card must be shown at the ticket counter upon arrival.
Food and beverages
In our café, you can buy drinks, coffee, tea, and cake. During school holidays, you can usually also buy light meals.
From November 1 to April 30, the café is only open during school holidays and for pre-booked events (minimum 20 guests). However, it will usually be possible to buy coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soft drinks, water, and snacks.
Can I bring my own food?
Yes. There are tables and benches in the monument area, and between the parking lot and our entrance on Vestergade, we have a covered picnic area that can be used if it is not reserved.
If you are a group and have booked a tour or lecture, you can reserve space in the picnic area free of charge.
To ensure that all our guests have the opportunity to use the area, we ask that you do not stay in the picnic shelter for more than 45 minutes.
Restaurants outside the museum
If you're hungry for more, you should go visit our excellent neighbors. Café Sejd, Byens Café, Pandekagehuset og Jelling Kro are all located within 100 meters of Kongernes Jelling. Just outside the palisade marking with a view of Sydhøjen is Jelling Pizza, and on the way out of town towards Vejle is Marcelino's restaurant. Outside the town sign in the direction of Vejle are Haughus and Hopballe Mølle, and to the south by Fårup Lake is Skovdal Kro.
