The Viking Age is not only savagery and Valhalla. It is also the transition from pagan chieftains to Christian kings.
On this tour of our experience center, you will get a sense of what life was like in the time of Harald Bluetooth. Step into the Viking Age, where society was divided, power was concentrated in Jelling, and faith was a large part of the Vikings' everyday life and society.

A guided tour through smoke and storytelling
Breathe in the woodsmoke and listen to tales of Norse mythology and how Jelling became the seat of power. From Valhalla and the old gods to Christ and the birth of royal authority. Sit on the throne, gather around the fire, and hear your tourguide tell stories of Jelling's glory as history unfolds before your eyes. Norse mythology is packed with incredible stories - like Níðhöggr the dragon gnawing at the roots of the world tree, or Iðunn the goddess who ate magical apples for wisdom.

The Viking Age changed everything
This was a uniquely transformative period for Scandinavia, when Denmark was forever changed. The first cities were founded, Christianity arrived, and scattered tribes became one unified kingdom. You'll witness and feel these monumental shifts firsthand.
